Most sex offenses in Montana carry mandatory minimum sentences and sexual offender registration for at least 10 years. There is also a statutory restriction on deferred sentences for anyone convicted of a sex offense. More and more cases are being filed with no physical evidence and just one witness claiming sexual assault as probable cause.
